Why Lambahoany

Lambahoany is the Malagasy word for the rectangle cloth, often with bright colours and with a maxim about e.g. domestic or public life, like preserving nature or good housekeeping, or some philosophical reflection. The lambahoany has many purposes but is mostly used as a garment. At special occasions you will see groups people dressed in lambahoany; each group a different one, all chosen especially for the occasion.

Centre Lambahoany has selected this name as it symbolises the liaison between town and countryside, as the lambahoany is the daily garment in the village, but all townsmen will own several lambahoany as well.

Centre Lambahoany works both in the city as in the country to preserve nature and culture of Madagascar and to improve people’s life, develop the country without forgetting its cultural values.
